Percentage Calculator

Use this percentage table calculator to find a percent of a number, reverse the math (what percent X is of Y), and measure percent change from an old value to a new one. Shoppers comparing discounts, students working grades, and anyone checking a raise or markdown can also generate a printable-style table—1% through 50% of an amount, or up to 100%. Results update in your browser. Nothing is stored on a server.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find a percentage of a number?

Multiply the number by the percent divided by 100. For example, 20% of 80 is 80 × 0.20 = 16.

What is percent change?

Percent change is (new − old) / old × 100. Going from 80 to 100 is a 25% increase. Going from 100 to 80 is a 20% decrease, because the starting (old) value is different.

What is a percentage table?

A percentage table lists percent values of a set amount—useful for discounts, grades, tips, tax add-ons, and markups. This tool can build a 1%–50% table (or up to 100%) for any number you enter.

How do I find what percent one number is of another?

Divide the part by the whole, then multiply by 100. 16 is 20% of 80 because 16 ÷ 80 × 100 = 20. The whole cannot be zero.

Can percent change be negative?

Yes. If the new value is smaller than the old value, percent change is negative (a decrease). If the old value is zero, percent change is undefined because you cannot divide by zero.

Do I need an account to use this calculator?
