EOC Grade Calculator: Final Grade With End-of-Course Exam
Use this EOC calculator to combine a course average with an end-of-course exam score and the weight your school uses, or to find the EOC score a target final grade needs.
How to use
- Choose Final grade or EOC score needed.
- Enter the course average as a percent from 0 to 100.
- For a final grade, enter the EOC score. For the score you need, enter the target final grade. The weight starts at 30, the Florida EOC share. Change it to match your school.
- Read the result. Clear empties the fields. Nothing is saved.
Formula
Final grade = course average × (1 − EOC weight) + EOC score × EOC weight, with the weight written as a decimal. The EOC score needed is (target final grade − course average × (1 − weight)) / weight. Every input is a percent from 0 to 100. A weight of 0 cannot be solved for an EOC score, because the exam does not affect the grade.
Example. With a 30% weight, an 85 average and a 70 EOC give 85 × 0.7 + 70 × 0.3 = 80.5.
Example. An 85 course average and an 80 target at 30% weight need (80 − 85 × 0.7) / 0.3 = 68.33 on the EOC.
Example. If the course average is 50, the target is 95, and the weight is 30%, the EOC score needed is 200, which is above 100.
Frequently asked questions
How much does the EOC count toward my final grade?
It depends on your state. Florida law sets EOC results at 30% of the final course grade for EOC courses; other states and districts set their own weights, so enter the percentage your school uses.
How is the final grade calculated?
Final grade = course average × (1 − EOC weight) + EOC score × EOC weight. With a 30% weight, an 85 average and a 70 EOC give 85 × 0.7 + 70 × 0.3 = 80.5.
What EOC score do I need to get a B?
Switch to score-needed mode, enter your course average and target (for example 80), and the tool solves for the EOC percentage required.
My EOC result is an achievement level, not a percent. What do I enter?
Use the conversion your district publishes. Some districts map each achievement level to a percent or points, so check your school's grading policy first.
Does this work for semester exams too?
Yes. Any weighted final exam works the same way; just set the weight to match your syllabus.
